Painting en plein air at Shaw Nature Reserve

SUMMARY OF PLACE:: The afternoon was cold, still, and overcast.
INSPIRATION:: Two aspects of this scene caught my attention: the subtle but distinct variety of brown tones of the prairie grass, and the contrast of the thin prairee grass against the wide-spreading oaks that were scattered about the prairee.
