Painting in Studio

SUMMARY OF PLACE:: In my studio, I set up a still life of avocados, tomatoes, and cilantro, ingredients common to guacamole.
INSPIRATION:: In addition to providing an abundant complimentary color scheme (red-green), the subjects in this still-life provided an attractive array of textures (the chalky inside of the avocado, the slick tomato skin, the "wet" tomato seeds, the rough outer skin of the avocado, and the leafy cilantro). The goal of the painting was to capture the colors and textures of guacamole manufacture. The dark brown shape at upper left counterbalance the "weight" of the objects on the right.
