"Lilypads, Late Summer Reflections"
Oil 6x8
Summary of Place:
The lily ponds of Tower Grove Park are a boon to artists.
The ponds are well cared for, and the many varieties of lily pads planted reward their attention with vigorous growth and bloom.
Further, the surrounding grounds are planted with a wide variety of vegetation.
As a result, artists can always easily find a blooming lily pad grouping to paint, and several steps in either direction provides a different water reflection option for that grouping.
This scene was backed by the colors of later summer, red cannis lilies.
Inspiration and Design:
My goal for this painting was to capture the sunlit lily pads resting in water reflecting the vibrant colors of late summer.
