"A Hint of Sweden"
Watercolor 8x10
Summary of Place:
This subject is the water tower in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago, IL.
During the early 1900's, a large number of Swedish US immigrants settled in Andersonville.
In fact, at that time Chicago was home to the second-largest population of Swedes in the world, next to Stockholm.
A century later, the neighborhood is no longer predominantly Swedish.
However, you can still find a hint of Sweden here and there.
Inspiration and Design:
My goal for this painting was to depict accurately the prominence and character of the water tower in Andersonville.
